As we all know, doctors and dieticians recommend eating a balanced, healthy diet full of a variety of foods from all major food groups.  In an ideal world, we’d all do this.  But, unfortunately, life gets ahead of us and before we know it our day is over, and with it the opportunity to eat as recommended!

You may think all is lost, but don’t fret!  A great all-in-one vitamin can serve as a nutritional safety net and give you the vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients your body needs for optimum health.

Benefits Of Supplementing With An All-In-One Multivitamin

While the FDA doesn’t approve or endorse any multivitamins or mineral supplementation for specific conditions, it only makes sense that a good multivitamin will provide benefits.  What benefits and to what degree varies depending on the individual.

Having said that, certain vitamins have been shown to boost energy levels (B12), affect memory (vitamin A), and strengthen the immune system (Vitamin D) for all types of people.

Studies have also shown that vitamins may lower the risk of contracting certain types of cancer, such as colon cancer, in some women.

In addition, an all-in-one multivitamin allows you to take one serving, as opposed to twenty, in order to meet your daily requirement!  The ease – and savings – this presents can not be understated.

Who Needs An All-in-One Vitamin?

In most cases, anyone can benefit from taking a multivitamin, but those who need them most are children and adults who struggle to meet their nutrient needs through diet alone (hint: that’s most of us!).  But most multivitamins fall far short when it comes to providing certain essential nutrients: namely, vitamin D, and Omega 3s.  While multivitamins usually contain some dosage of vitamin D, many do not carry enough, at least according to many experts.  Worse, no traditional multivitamins contain omega 3s, a nutrient that the American Heart Association strongly recommends people get on a regular basis, and in healthy amounts. If you’re not getting your daily requirement of nutrients, an all-in-one vitamin may just be your ticket to health – not only do they provide the nutritional safety net of a multivitamin, but they also offer the larger doses of vitamin D and Omega 3s, nutrients you would usually have to purchase separately, and swallow reluctantly.  But more about vitamin D and Omega 3s later.

Things To Avoid In an All-in-One Vitamin

Not all all-in-one’s are created equal.  In fact, if you’re currently taking a synthetic all-in-one vitamin, it may be a good idea to avoid it altogether.  Synthetic vitamins are easy to spot: they’re made of chemicals as opposed to compounds found in nature.  And, if they don’t occur in nature they’re difficult (and in some cases impossible) for the body to effectively utilize.

Is There Truly An All-in-One Vitamin For EVERYONE?

While nutritional needs vary between men, women, and children, there are formulas available for adults that are more than sufficient for both men and women, regardless of age group.  Likewise, great all-in-one vitamins are available for children, regardless of gender.

Omega 3s In A Multivitamin

I’ve mentioned some of the benefits of Omega 3s.  But, some people can’t stomach the taste of seafood in order to get the omega 3s they need.  Hence the benefit of supplementing with an omega 3 capsule.  The problem is, most carry the fishy flavor you’re probably aiming to avoid.  What’s even better is finding a high-quality multivitamin that contains Omega 3s.  Not only does it eliminate the need for an additional pill in your vitamin regime, but it also eliminates the unnecessary expense of an additional vitamin.  And, who can’t use a little extra change in their pockets nowadays?

What About Vitamin D?  Is It Necessary?

Many years ago, a Vitamin D deficiency manifested itself into a disease called rickets.  While we have mostly eradicated rickets (through vitamin enhanced dairy products), a new set of problems is cropping up due to Vitamin D deficiencies.

Studies have shown that those who have Vitamin D deficiencies have an increased risk of colon cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer.  In addition, Vitamin D deficiency can also cause osteoarthritis as well as a variety of autoimmune-related symptoms.

By including a proper all-in-one multivitamin in your diet, which contains an optimal dosage of Vitamin D, you may be able to reduce your risk of a variety of different cancers and even osteoporosis.

While eating a well-balanced diet is the preferred way to get proper nutrition, it’s just near impossible this day and age.  An all-in-one vitamin provides the all-encompassing safety net that traditional multivitamins fail to deliver.  So cast your net wide with an All-in-One Vitamin!
